Finland joins RefPal community

« Previous PostNext Post »
Finnish Football Association becomes the first international partner to join the revolutionary referee development network RefPal created and used in Estonia since 2017. Finnish refereeing comes aboard with both men’s and women’s leagues. Altogether over 150 users starting from Finnish FIFA referees and assistant referees, both male and female top league referees, observers and talent referees from first and second league join the Finnish referee department in analysing, evaluating and discussing both Veikkausliiga and Kansallinen liiga matches and incidents each week.

The first international matches uploaded into the RefPal system were Kansallinen Liiga games Vantaa – Åland and PK-35-TiPS from 17.04. The first Veikkausliiga games will be HJK – FC Honka and FC Inter – KuPS played on the 24.04.

Today the video database in the system holds 833 analysed football games, 10 204 separate incidents to learn from, 386 official users and we are working on adding several other leagues to grow the number of users over 1000 by the end of 2021.

In connection with our international launch, we are proud to welcome the new Estonian FIFA referee (since 2021) Joonas Jaanovits to our video analysis team. Work as a refereeing video analysist is a great way for ambitious referees to hone the basics of refereeing, evaluating subtle but crucial differences between similar incidents and learning how to best manage the games based on circumstances and different personalities of referees on the field of play. With further leagues about to join RefPal we will soon be looking for video analysists to join our growing and ambitious team.

RefPal was founded in 2017 and started its international development in 2020. Our aim is to become the global refereeing development community to share knowledge, experience and know-how on refereeing from grassroots to the FIFA Elite referees amongst countries and leagues so far working mostly on their own. It is a platform founded by referees for referees.

Our current partners include Estonian FA, Finnish FA and Referee Abroad Academy. We are currently looking for new FA’s and Leagues to join up, any interested parties are welcome to contact us to see how we can best help your referees to unlock their potentials.
